Cooperation, Not Competition

Money is an abstract concept, disconnected from the natural world. If we keep chasing growth and consumption without limit, we’re headed for a collision with the physical limits of the planet we live on.

There are those who benefit from consolidating resources for personal advantage, at the expense of everyone else — and of the planet we all depend on. Our survival depends on sustaining the habitat we share. Accumulation, greed, and the misuse of shared resources are directly at odds with that.

The world’s gone a bit crazy the last decade or so. It can feel like the result of capitalism reaching its inevitable conclusion — crony capitalism. The tempting fix is to imagine we could keep the “capitalism” and lose the “crony.” Get rid of the corruption, keep the system.

We don’t think that works. As long as there is deep inequality, there will be problems — problems that compound, and that eventually reach everyone, no matter how insulated they think they are.
